IPL Mega Auction 2025 Live
Every three years, IPL teams go through a reset. They can only keep a limited number of players i.e. up to six this time and have to rebuild their squads during the mega auction. In the years between these mega auctions, teams can keep as many players as they want before a one-day mini-auction. A total of 1,574 players applied for the IPL 2025 mega auction, but the list has now been cut down to 574 players, with 366 being Indian and 208 from other countries. When a team keeps a player, they lose money from their budget. For the first retained player, Rs 18 crore is deducted, Rs 14 crore for the second, Rs 11 crore for the third, Rs 18 crore again for the fourth, and Rs 14 crore for the fifth.
If a team keeps an uncapped Indian player, they will lose Rs 4 crore from their budget. So, if a team keeps five international players, they will lose at least Rs 75 crore from their Rs 120 crore budget.
IPL 2025 Retention Rules
